Welcome!

Hello designers, developers, and students of all things digital.

This blog is the start of sharing my passion to the world for all things UI and animation. My name is Craig and I love UI and motion design. Currently, I work on the Human Interface team at Apple where I design interfaces for phones, tablets, computers, TVs, and watches. Feel free to check out my portfolio.

I started out like many others in the field, at motion graphic studios creating television spots, even some flash websites :) After first coming on board at Apple seven years ago I started leaning toward UI design and found my niche combining that with motion graphics. I loved the structure and delight you can bring to interfaces with well thought out motion. You get to craft perfect iOS animations that people will interact with everyday. This was much more exciting to me than creating a television spot that will be forgotten in a couple months. It’s exciting work and always thrilling to see your designs used by millions of people all over the world.

I’ve learned a lot over the years, and with this blog, I hope to share the things I’ve learned along the way. We’ll be tasking a close look at digital interfaces, the structure, design, and animation. Since my niche in the UI world is motion design, many posts will take a look at mobile user interfaces through a lens of animation. How things move, how they interact, and those small little moments that push an interface to the next level. Lets dive into these details and check out the things that make the digital products we use everyday special.
